ASU Opens an Engineering Group at Astrakhan School

The beginning of the academic year will be special the 9th grade pupils of Secondary School No. 32, specializing in physical and mathematical subjects. Now the schoolchildren can choose individual educational trajectories already at school, and employees of the ASU Caspian Higher Engineering School will help them decide on their future profession.

In the Year of Science and Technology, Astrakhan State University has opened an engineering group in the school. A corresponding agreement was signed by Rector of the university Konstantin Markelov and Director of Secondary School No. 32 Oksana Sidorina. Involving the talented youth into scientific activity can and should be started from school.

There are 30 children in the engineering group so far. The lessons for them will differ from the usual ones. Thus, classes in biology, computer science and chemistry will be given by professors of Astrakhan State University, and extracurricular ones — by employees of the Engineering Project Office and professors of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics & Engineering Technologies at ASU.

Konstantin Markelov told the children about the opportunities they can get by entering ASU. The rector also shared with the schoolchildren plans to open a new major in medical technology in cooperation with the Astrakhan State Medical University and the regional Ministry of Health.
