ASU Welcomes Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation
Kazem Jalali and Rector of Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov discussed Iranian-Russian relations, academic mobility of professors and students of the two countries, and the development of scientific and educational ties.
The head of ASU stressed the importance of the relations between educational and scientific institutions of Iran and Russia, as they will be of benefit to the whole Caspian region.
One of the main topics of the working meeting was the academic mobility of professors and students of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Astrakhan State University. Today, there is an internship programme for ASU students in many countries of the world, including Iran.
“We are grateful to the Embassy and Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting our student and professor exchange projects. Astrakhan State University would like to expand this programme: it is efficient when a native speaker teaches a language in an educational institution, and students have the opportunity to visit the country of the language they are learning and get directly acquainted with its cultural traditions,” said Konstantin Markelov.
Kazem Jalali supported the initiative of the ASU rector and promised to help to implement this idea, including by allocating quotas for Iranian students to study in Russian universities.
The guest of honor thanked the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Astrakhan State University, in particular the Center for Iranian Studies and the Persian Language represented by its Head Aleksandr Mukhin, for their contribution to strengthening the status of the Persian language in Russia.
During the visit, the delegation headed by Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali, took part in the floral tribute ceremony at the monument of the Persian philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet Omar Khayyam, located in the student park of Astrakhan State University.
