ASU Rector Is Awarded Honorary Badge of Astrakhan Regional Duma
The Astrakhan Regional Duma has held a solemn ceremony of awarding the badge of honor “For the Development of Parliamentarism and Civil Society”, a symbol of recognition of the citizens’ personal merits in parliamentary construction, social activities and rule-making.
Congratulating the awardees, Chairman of the Astrakhan Regional Duma Igor Martynov said: “The other day we celebrated Unity Day, and I once again congratulate you on this wonderful holiday. To our country and to Astrakhan Region, there is nothing more important than strengthening the interethnic and interfaith peace. Those awarded today are leaders of national cultural societies, public figures, parliamentarians, representatives of the prosecutor’s office, justice and higher educational institutions. We are grateful to all of you for your contribution to the development of Astrakhan Region and interaction with the regional legislative body.”
ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov also received a prestigious award.
“We have been cooperating with the Astrakhan Regional Duma for a long time. Both the scientific and student communities are interested in the development of parliamentarism in Russia and in the regions. Scientific support and staffing of the legislative process are the most important and promising programmes,” the rector said.
The ASU head also mentioned such a valuable initiative of the university and the Astrakhan Regional Duma as the School of Parliamentary Journalism, involving students of the Faculty of Philology & Journalism.
The awardees were thanked for the implementation and support of socially significant social initiatives and for joint efforts and participation in the work of the Astrakhan Regional Duma. The ceremony ended with musical items.
