ASU Activates Transition to Electronic Document Management
The gradual introduction of the Directum EDMS at Astrakhan State University has been underway since 2010. In recent months, the process has entered a new stage, and soon the exchange of paper documents will finally become a thing of the past.
Those who have been working at the university for several decades probably remember how they had to regularly pick up bundles of copies of orders and incoming letters at the General Unit. It took both time and material resources. It became obvious that the process required radical reform and modernization. The choice was made in favor of the Directum EDMS.
As is often the case with new technologies, the use of an electronic document management system required the overcoming of the lack of understanding, and sometimes even rejection of new ways of working. In addition, initially the number of working licenses was very limited, so sometimes it was necessary to log into the system literally at a certain hour to give other users the opportunity to work.
Currently, after updating the system and introducing new functions, Astrakhan State University is going through a new stage in the development of Directum: most of the employees have received corporate electronic signatures, and they now have the opportunity to generate memos and orders in EDMS for the main activities of the university.
