ASU Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation Holds WeAreTogether Teambuilding
The event is part of the project on creating an inclusive linguistic environment for people with hearing impairments in Astrakhan Region which has won the grant competition “Practices of Personal Philanthropy and Altruism” of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation.
A series of events aimed at intensive immersion of hearing people into the world of the deaf and vice versa, is being held on April 21-22 at the Pushkin Health Center. In addition, a roundtable on the development of an inclusive environment in Astrakhan Region was organized as part of the event programme; its purpose is to discuss topical issues of developing an inclusive linguistic environment in Astrakhan Region.
Opening the meeting, CITS Director Uliana Saveleva outlined the main idea of the project on creating an inclusive linguistic environment for people with hearing impairments in Astrakhan Region — to provide sign language interpretation and help MA students the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation and undergraduates of the ASU Faculty of Foreign Languages acquire new interpretation competencies.
According to ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov, it is important that the university be an open platform for all people, despite any limitations.
During the two-day event, teambuilding participants — hearing and deaf students of ASU, as well as deaf representatives of the Astrakhan youth — will have a lot of interesting things — an exciting teambuilding quest, a movie screening in the cinema hall, an evening by the campfire, outdoor sports and swimming in the pool.
