Konstantin Markelov Speaks at City Duma Meeting
In his report, the rector of ASU spoke in detail about the priority areas of the university and proposed initiatives for the joint work of the university and the city. The meeting was held in the Administration of Astrakhan.
Konstantin Markelov noted that the role of universities has increased dramatically these days, because the university not only performs educational and scientific functions, but also implements the “third mission” — social and disciplinary.
The agenda of the report also included such topics as the merging of ASUACE and ASU, the opening of a military training center, import-substituting technologies, the 2022 admission campaign, and targeted recruitment.
The final part of the speech was about an initiative to create a scientific and educational cluster that would bring together various types of institutions and areas of training for multidisciplinary and cross-institutional cooperation to address complex socio-economic issues in the interests of the city. Konstantin Markelov suggested that the committees of the City Duma got acquainted with the projects and the university development programme in more detail and get actively involved in their implementation.
Chairman of the City Duma Igor Sedov and Head of Astrakhan Oleg Polumordvinov noted that they were ready to support the university and the initiatives proposed by Konstantin Markelov.
