Historical Faculty Graduates of 1982 Meet again at ASU

They graduated from the university 40 years ago, but, despite the distance and busyness, every five years they are happy to gather in their alma mater to talk with old friends and find out how their home faculty lives and develops.

In 1982, students of the Historical Faculty of Astrakhan State Pedagogical Institute (now Astrakhan Tatishchev State University) graduated from the institute with a degree in history, social science and English and received the long-awaited diplomas.

The graduating cohort of that year was divided into two groups, numbering together 44 people. They fulfilled themselves in different professions: someone teaches at school, someone found their vocation in state bodies, and for others, work in museums became a release. Graduates have spread over different cities: Krasnodar, Volgograd, Tver, Klin, Stavropol, Astrakhan... But it does not hinder their communication: historians maintain close contacts between small groups, relax and travel together. This year, they celebrate their common anniversary — 40 years of graduation.

The ideological inspirer of the meeting was Professor Rafik Usmanov — he is not only a graduate of this cohort, but also a lecturer at ASU.

The preservation of traditions and continuity is one of the important features not only of the Historical Faculty, but of Astrakhan State University as a whole. Each student continues to carry love for and interest in the profession in their hearts, despite different life paths and destinies. And the time spent together and memories can now live not only in the heart and photographs, but also in the virtual museum of ASU. All generations and all moments in one place.
