ASU and MSU Plan Joint Monitoring of the Caspian Sea
Astrakhan Tatishchev State University and the Center for Marine Research of Lomonosov Moscow State University signed a cooperation agreement.
The ceremony took place within the framework of the All-Russian Maritime Congress. The document was signed by ASU Vice-Rector for Digitalization, Innovations and Priority Projects Aleksey Titov and Executive Director of the Marine Research Center of Moscow State University Nikolay Shabalin.
The agreement is aimed at confirming the common intentions of the two universities in the field of long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation to improve the scientific and educational infrastructure and human resources for the Volga-Caspian studies.
According to the vice-rector of ASU, now the central task is to prepare a comprehensive plan for research in the Caspian Sea and reach the level of the Government of the Russian Federation with the initiative to hold the Year of the Caspian Sea within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. This will allow raising the tasks that are now being addressed in partnership with the Caspian countries – Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan – to a new scientific and technological level, and the signed agreement with Moscow State University is one of the first steps in achieving this goal.
