ASU Professor Goes on an Expedition Flora and Vegetation of the Caspian Macro Region

Paleontologists, botanists, ecologists, and other specialists from five Caspian Region states participated in an international expedition.

The first expedition under the international project Flora and Vegetation of the Caspian Macro Region — 2030 was arranged in accordance with the cooperation agreement between Mahambet Utemisov West Kazakhstan University and Astrakhan Tatishchev State University.

The main objective of the multi-year project is researching the Caspian Macro Region florogenesis, and biodiversity of the region flora and fauna through describing new species and syntaxa of steppe and desert vegetation.

Further, the expedition materials will be used to draft research papers for joint participation in grant contests arranged by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
