ASU Rector Takes Part in the Plenary Session of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum

The key topic of the economic and humanitarian event opened by President of Russia Vladimir Putin was Technology and Security in the Name of Sovereign Development for the Benefit of Humankind. The session was attended by Rector of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University Konstantin Markelov.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin opened the plenary session having outlined a number of proposals. For instance, Russia is planning to increase African students’ enrollment rates at pedagogical universities, as well as to open branches of Russia’s leading universities in Africa.

ASU also pays due attention to foreign applicants’ enrolling at the university. The number of students from 16 African states and currently receiving higher education at ASU accounts for 35. For the first time in a long while, young people from such countries as Mozambique, the Republic of South Africa, Somalia, and Burkina Faso are studying at ASU.

Over the past 5 years, 49 African citizens have graduated from Astrakhan Tatishchev State University, with 176 people having completed preliminary training to learn Russian.

ASU and the South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA) are considering the possibility to sign an agreement on cooperation.
