Master Theses in Economy Defended Successfully

On May 22, 2014, eleven master theses to obtain the degree of a Master of Public Administration have been defended successfully at Astrakhan State University. The State Certification Commission has been chaired by Mr. Alexander Klykanov, Chairman of the Duma (the regional parliament) of Astrakhan Region.

The themes of the defended master theses written by students of the Department of Business & Economy reflect a number of relevant issues of social and economical character: development of regional small and middle-scale entrepreneurship, increasing the efficiency of budget assets expenditures, modernization of education and healthcare, struggle with corruption, and development of the tourism cluster.

All the theses have been distinguished both for a large volume of statistic and empiric materials and for application of new management tools. The research results have been approbated at regional contests arranged by the regional executive authorities.

Such results have become possible thanks to introduction of open lectures (given by reps of regional legislative and executive authorities, as well as by invited coaches from other regions) into the educational process.

Mr. Klykanov has emphasized a high level of the defended master thesis, their undoubted practical value, and a nontrivial approach to presentation of their main results. Upon the completion of the defense proceedings, the State Certification Commission has given excellent grades to all the 11 graduates and conferred the MPA degree on all of them. More than a half of the 11 graduates shall obtain a cum laude diploma.
