Delegation of African Ambassadors at Astrakhan State University

On July 24, 2014, a whole number of especially distinguished guests – Ambassadors Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of African countries to the Russian Federation – have visited Astrakhan State University.

The delegation of the distinguished guests has included Ambassadors from Benin, Burundi, Djibouti, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, Guinea-Bissau, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Chad. The delegation has met management of ASU and was told about our University’s potential in details. The goal of the talks was to set up long-term cooperation in the field of higher education. The current visit aimed mainly at increasing the number of foreign students at Astrakhan State University. After visiting our students’ hostels and our sanatorium, the guests could see that ASU’s infrastructure complies with the modern requirements. Our foreign students have had an informal talk with the Ambassadors; they thanked our administration and faculty for a high level of delivering knowledge at our University; they said their accommodation conditions are comfortable. Suggestions concerning efficient bilateral cooperation and further activities of African Embassies aimed to send more students to ASU have also been under consideration during the visit of the distinguished guests.
