Our Students Gain Their Own Park
22.09.2014
The renewed Students’ Park located in front of ASU’s main building has been opened today after its reconstruction. This is a gift prepared by the city administration, by the regional administration, and by three major universities of Astrakhan for our young people.
The official ceremony has been held this morning. Mr. Alexander Zhilkin, Governor of Astrakhan Region, and Ms. Irina Egorova, Acting Mayor of Astrakhan, have been present at the event, as well as administration and students of the three universities located right near the Park – Astrakhan State University, Astrakhan State Technical University, and the Astrakhan Institute of Engineering & Construction.
The Students’ Park has become a modern and a fashionable recreation facility not just for the young, but also for all the people of Astrakhan. The territory of the Park now has recreation zones for people of all ages, a site for kids to play their games, a Wi-Fi transmitter, and comfortable tracks for those who are fond of bicycles and rolling skates. Wooden sculptures of animals are a splendid decoration of the entire area. The Park has new systems of watering and lighting.
The idea to reconstruct the Park arose within the students’ community in April; it was backed by management of the three universities and by the city and the regional administrations. During the reconstructions works, teams of students helped professional gardeners, builders, and designers. As our students who live in nearby hostels say, now it is much more pleasant to walk up and down the renewed Park in the evening.
