Students of ASU Become Grantees of Pavel Astakhov

Dr. Pavel Astakhov, Children’s Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation, has visited Astrakhan State University. The main goal of his visit was to confer personal grants on students of our University.

Besides students of the Law Department of ASU, Dr. Astakhov has also met two Ministers of Astrakhan Region – Dr. Vitaliy Gutman (Minister of Education & Science) and Ms. Ekaterina Lukyanenko (Minister of Social Development & Labor). The reason for the meeting was to confer personal grants of the Children’s Rights Commissioner for the President of Russia; such a grant has been established not long ago. It was two students of our University who have been honored to get the grant – Anatoliy Syanov for his excellent studies and Anastasia Kirillova for her active social work.

The idea to establish such a grant dawned upon Dr. Astakhov during his May 2014 visit to ASU. According to him, such a grant exists only at Astrakhan State University, and no other Russian University has anything of the kind.
