TV Bridge with Moscow University: New Techniques of Teaching Philosophy
Staff of Astrakhan State University’s Department of Social Communications and their colleagues from the Faculty of Philosophy of Lomonosov Moscow State University have performed a joint video conference that concerned issues of teaching Philosophy at higher educational institutions. The TV Bridge has been dedicated to the UNESCO World Philosophy Day.
The official theme of the video conference was “Issues of Teaching Philosophy at Higher Educational Institutions: Traditions & New Approaches”. The event has been moderated by Prof. Alexander Alekseev (Head of the Chair of Philosophy for Humanitarian Faculties of Moscow State University) and by Prof. Lyudmila Baeva (Dean of the Department of Social Communications of ASU).
Together with their colleagues from Moscow, Astrakhan’s philosophers have discussed the efficiency of new teaching techniques, as well as the competence-oriented approach and ways to arrange students’ independent work.
Discussion of efficiency of new forms of teaching and assessing has been one of the key issues at the event. The participants of the TV Bridge have also shared their experience gained in the field of project-oriented and research activities in Philosophy.
Our Moscow colleagues have shown special interest in the experiment that ASU is currently running – the flow method of teaching Philosophy. They were interested to find out what interactive techniques Astrakhan philosophers apply to teach Philosophy and what opportunities such techniques might provide. It has been decided to use such an exchange of gained experience in the future.
