Young Researchers Share Business Ideas

The Youth Applied Research Conference “Innovative Entrepreneurship” and the UMNIK Competition of Research Projects are taking place at Astrakhan State University.

At the official opening ceremony that took place on Nov. 11, 2015, a number of officials from Astrakhan Region’s legal authorities has been present, including Mr. Yakov Popernyak (the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Astrakhan Region) and Ms. Svetlana Abdulova (Chief of the Directorate of HR, Educational, and Research Support of Regional Economy of the Ministry of Economic Development of Astrakhan Region). Besides them, reps of Astrakhan’s top higher educational institutions have also arrived at the opening ceremony. In his welcoming speech, Mr. Popernyak has emphasized the importance of involving a large number of students in grant-funded activities. According to him, it is necessary to strive for enhancement of students’ research and innovative activities, to improve the quality of their research projects. As for Prof. Anna Fedotova, Vice Rector for Research Activities of Astrakhan State University, she has pointed out that the UMNIK Program is essential to back young scientists, who come up with ideas capable of advancing science, innovations, and business of Astrakhan Region to a new level. The Vice Rector has wished the young participants to gain a victory at the Competition and to obtain precious experience in execution of their projects, as well as in their presentation to the board of experts.

Over 50 young researchers are taking part in the two scientific events. Outcomes of the Conference will be summarized and winners of the Competition will be awarded on Nov. 13, 2015 in the Assembly Hall of the Main Building of Astrakhan state University.
