Students of Our Department of Psychology Learn Rescuing Skills

The Chair of Applied Psychology of Astrakhan State University has arranged seminars to train volunteers to take part in the contest “Human Factor” among students’ volunteer teams to be held as a part of the International Exhibition “Integrated Safety & Security” (Moscow, Russia).

The Chair of Applied Psychology of ASU and the Astrakhan Regional Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adolescents with Special Needs “Correction & Development” have been cooperating with the Astrakhan HQ of the Russian EMERCOM and with the Astrakhan Branch of the Union of Russian Writers for a long time. As a result of their joint activities, they have arranged training seminars for students of ASU’s Department of Psychology, as well as for local volunteers who help children with special needs. The seminars concern psychological and first medical aid in emergency situations.

The seminars are delivered by experienced specialists of the Russian EMERCOM; they include both theoretical fundamentals of rescuing activities and practical skills of handling emergency situations. Besides, our students are learning ethical and legal principles of activities that rescue services perform.

Upon their completion of the training, the students are to pass through the selection stage for the Human Factor contest.
