2016 Presidential Program Launched at ASU
On Feb. 29, 2016, the 2016 Presidential Program, which aims to retrain top managers to meet the needs of the national economy, has officially been opened at Astrakhan State University.
25 managers have successfully passed the entrance competition to be admitted to one of the three specializations: “Regional Management: Technologies to Form Sustainable Comparative Advantages of Companies & Areas”, “Creation of Competitive Educational Areal Environment: Development Strategy for Innovative Educational Systems & Institutions”, and “Efficient Management in Healthcare: Training of Result-Oriented Managerial Teams for Regional Healthcare System”. Throughout five months of intense professional retraining, the 25 trainees will be developing their skills of managerial activities, leadership, teamwork, project management, etc.
The 25 trainees work with Astrakhan Region’s business companies, educational and medical institutions. Mr. Vadim Mankov (Director of the Astrakhan Regional Resource Center), Dr. Inna Akhunzhanova (Director of the Institute of Strategy & Competitiveness of ASU), and Dr. Tatyana Mordasova (Chief of the Center of Qualified Management Training Administration Programs of ASU) have greeted them warmly. The three speakers have pointed out that this Program is the only program aiming to enhance project managers’ qualifications as a part of the federal plan; it is of practice-oriented character; at the end of it, a trainee must cover a practical training program at Russian or foreign enterprises. Once their studies are complete, state and municipal authorities obtain a highly qualified staff resource for the regional economy, which could be applied to implement new projects, introduce and develop new fields of activities, etc. The Presidential Program is a serious state order, so all the three above-mentioned specializations aim to form regional teams.
The official part has been followed by the trainees’ speeches; they have told what they expect from such retraining at Astrakhan State University. Most of them agree that they really need to develop skills of teamwork, HRM, and application of theoretical knowledge in practice. They believe that they need to enhance their knowledge of Economics and Management, share their experience and ideas to realize joint projects, and establish partnership relations. Some of them wished they became instructors of the Presidential Program at ASU upon their graduation.
At the end of the meeting, the trainees have got their trainee cards.
