Our Future Psychologist Participates in Moscow Winter School
During the current winter holidays, Victoria Bazhan, a student of Astrakhan State University’s Department of Psychology, has taken part in the Winter School of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
Such Winter Schools are a traditional event for those who wish to sign up for a master course at the Higher School of Economics. During several days, the participants meet key professors of the HSE, learn much about its master programs, about its admission rules and requirements towards candidates. Nine specialties are available this year; over 3, 000 applications have been submitted to sign up for them. Victoria Bazhan, who specializes in Conflict Studies at Astrakhan State University and who is at her final year of covering this bachelor program, has been one of those who have successfully passed the tough and searching selection of candidates.
The event has been of international scale: it has united students from Russian, Kazakhstani, Belorussian, Chinese, US, French, Dutch, and Algerian universities. Its agenda has included learning about the main master programs, about the research projects that future masters are to undertake at the HSE, and about the overall specifics of studies at the HSE. The participants have been demonstrated the development “Brain Computer Interface”, which aims to provide a remote “connection” between a human brain and a computer by means of modern technologies. Besides, the Winter School participants have covered a training in intercultural interaction and ethnic cultural competence. They have also taken part in the presentation of the program “Systematic Family Psychotherapy” by Dr. Anna Varga (one of Russia’s best-known family psychotherapists), as well as in a master class to draw up a list of the most essential skills and qualities for a successful enrolment to a master course at the HSE and in the training “On the Way to Internal Harmony & Interpersonal Understanding”. They also participated in the business game “How to Earn a Million?”
“All those events were really interesting, useful, and amusing at the same time. Of course, we all were tired by the end of the Winter School, but we were definitely pleased. Meeting other participants was of great value for me, too. The professional skills I learnt there and my fluent English helped me find a common language with them. I believe I’ll keep my bright impressions and warm memories about this event for a long time”, Victoria confesses.
This traveling to Moscow is not Victoria’s only achievement. Upon her completion of Term 1 of Academic Year 2015-2016, Victoria has been awarded with a scholarship by Governor of Astrakhan Region for her success in academic, research, and experimental activities.
Let us congratulate Victoria!
