Discussion in Philosophy & Religion

The roundtable “Philosophy, Religion, & Spirituality in Modern World” has taken place at Astrakhan State University.

The event has been arranged by the Chair of Philosophy of ASU, by the Astrakhan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, and by the Astrakhan Branch of the Russian Philosophical Society.

Faculty staff and students of Astrakhan State University, as well as clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church, have given their reports at the roundtable. The range of speakers has included Prof. Alexander Glazkov and Prof. Leonid Podvoyskiy from ASU, Rev. Vitaliy Semyonov (who supervises youth-related affairs of the Astrakhan Diocese), and Rev. Alexey Spirin (who directs a religious school for kids and teenagers in Astrakhan).

The participants of the roundtable have discussed relationship between science and religion, between the religious and educational institutions, and tried to identify points of contact and cooperation in the field of spiritual and moral education of youth.
