Victor Zanozin, a student of the Department of Geology & Geography of Astrakhan State University, has taken part in the recent scientific conference concerning versatile application of space technologies to meet interests of Russian regions.

The conference was backed by the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities, by the United Rocket and Space Corporation, and by the Space & Telecom Cluster of the Skolkovo Innovation Center. Russian cosmonauts warmly greeted the participants of the conference right from the orbit.

The conference united developers of satellite navigation and information technologies, Earth remote probing databases, as well as reps of higher educational and research institutions, legal authorities, to say nothing of a large number of specialists in various fields of activities: mappers, builders, land surveyors, journalists, economists, ecologists, etc.

During the Plenary Session, the speakers concerned ways of interaction between federal and regional authorities to apply space technologies in the Russian economy, their current issues and future prospects.

As for Victor, he gave his report “Assessment of Hydrographic Network Upgrade Dynamics Owing to Changes in Volga River’s Hydrological Regime (Based on Earth Remote Probing Data & GIS Technologies)”. He received a diploma for his report. Then Victor attended the master class concerning practical application of the most modern GIS platforms.

Participation in this conference gave Victor a very good chance to learn much about application of GIS and remote probing data in practice. He is planning to apply the obtained knowledge in his further research activities.
