Student of ASU Wins Gold at Rio 2016 Olympics

For the first time in the history of the Russian handball, our women’s team has won “gold” at the Summer Olympic Games. Four girls who play for the Astrakhan team “Astrakhanochka” took part in the final game in Rio. Anna Vyakhireva, a student of Astrakhan State University’s Department of Pedagogics, Social Work, & Physical Training, is one of them.

Anna has been recognized as the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament: she is the best Russian scorer – 36 goals!

I am proud that such talented and outstanding people study at our Department. I wholeheartedly congratulate Anna Vyakhireva, and I believe that her future profession as a psychologist and a social pedagogue shall contribute to her career.
