Our Future MSc in Geography Studied at Fourth Summer School of Russian Geographical Society

Victor Zanozin, who is currently covering a master program at the Department of Geology & Geography of Astrakhan State University, has completed his studies at the Fourth Summer School of the Russian Geographical Society.

The event took place in the Ethnomir Culture & Education Tourism Centre located in Kaluga Region (Central Russia, not far from Moscow) on August 13-21, 2016. Young geographers from Russia and a number of other countries took part in it. The event agenda had much to do with Physical and Social Economical Geography, as well as with automated analysis of geographical data. Renowned Russian and foreign experts in Geography, Geoecology, Natural Resource Management, and other fields were lecturers at the Fourth School.

As for Victor, he took part in the urban area geoquest in the town of Borovsk; then he visited the world’s first nuclear power station located in Obninsk. Besides, he was active in thematic discussions moderated by Ivan Zatevakhin (Russia’s well-known TV and radio presenter) and by descendants of two great Russian geographers – Nicholas Miklouho-Maclay and Pyotr Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky.

Besides, the School trainees presented findings of their research to the jury. Victor defended his project “Application of GIS Technologies to Research Astrakhan Region’s Landscapes” (Prof. Alexander Barmin is his research supervisor). Victor’s work has been acknowledged as the best one in the section “Physical Geography”.

Let us congratulate Victor!
