ASU Takes Part in Meeting of Russian Federation UNESCO Chairs’ Coordination Committee
As Astrakhan State University keeps on implementing its international cooperation strategy, another key event in its activities was its participation in a meeting of the Russian Federation UNESCO Chairs’ Coordination Committee. The event took place on April 03-04, 2017 at the Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economy and Law (Belgorod, Russia).
The UNESCO Chair of ASU “Learning Society & Social Sustainable Development” was represented by Prof. Sergey Khrapov, D.Sc. in Philosophy, Research Supervisor of the Program “Socialization: CDIO Technologies” that is delivered at our University, Research Supervisor of Students’ Scientific Council of ASU.
A number of officials took part in the meeting – Prof. Vladimir Egorov (Chairman of the Coordination Committee), Mr. Grigoriy Ordzhonikidze (Executive Secretary of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Ms. Olesya Kholod from the International Department of the Ministry of Education & Science of the Russian Federation, as well as heads and deputy heads of Russian UNESCO Chairs.
During the meeting, seven applications submitted by Russian universities requesting to open and host UNESCO chairs were under consideration. Besides, the agenda included issues of coordination and activity control; the key events to take place in 2017 were discussed. As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to introduce the decision project “25 Years of UNITWIN: Role of UNESCO Chairs in Achieving Goals in the Field of Sustainable Development” at the 201st Session of the Executive Board of UNESCO.
