South Korean Delegation Visits ASU
A delegation from South Korea has visited Astrakhan State University.
The three officials from South Korea are: Mr. Jong Kwon Jeong (Deputy Director, Hakdang Support Department, King Sejong Institute Foundation of South Korea’s Ministry of Education); Ms. Seon Young Lee (Assistant Manager, Hakdang Support Department, King Sejong Institute Foundation of South Korea’s Ministry of Education); Ms. Jeong Hee Kim (Director, International Exchange Center, Dongseo University). The purpose of their visit was to inspect our University and negotiate the future opening of the Center of Korean Language & Culture at ASU.
The distinguished guests could see the material base and facilities of ASU. Acting as their guide, Prof. Alexander Lunev, our Acting Rector, emphasized our engineering specializations available for students (Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Nanoelectronics, Mechatronics & Robotics, etc.). Shipbuilding is a key industry in Astrakhan Region, as well as fishery and agriculture, so young specialists in these fields are of high demand at the labor market. The three guests also visited our Clear Water Restaurant, our swimming pool, auditoriums, center and labs, as well as our hotel facility.
The Korean inspectors were especially interested in the future opening of the Center of Korean Language & Culture at our University. Our administration expressed its wish to support this initiative in any way possible. Dongseo University will be our partner; it already gained experience in opening such centers: they now operate in Indonesia and Lithuania. Every year the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea launches about ten centers all over the world. ASU has the status of a state educational institution, so it is definitely suitable to host such a center.
