Scholars of ASU at Scientific Conference in Makhachkala, Dagestan

Representatives of Astrakhan State University have taken part in the National Scientific Conference “Philosophy & Ethics of Russia’s Ethnic Diversity & Unity”.

The event was arranged by the Ministry of National Policy of the Republic of Dagestan, by Dagestan State University, and by the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Ramazan Abdulatipov, Head of the Republic of Dagestan, D.Sc. in Philosophy and Chairman of the Conference, gave his welcoming speech.

Reps of 26 regions of the Russian Federation and nearby countries took part in the Conference. Among them, there were three delegates from ASU: Prof. Pavel Karabushchenko (D.Sc. in Philosophy, a Full Professor of our Chair of Political Science & International Relations), who gave his report “Issue of Identity & Russia’s Modern Political Elites”, Dr. Leonid Podvoyskiy (PhD in Philosophy, an Associate Professor of our Chair of Philosophy, Chairperson of the Astrakhan Branch of the Russian Philosophical Society) and Dr. Farida Rekesheva (PhD in Psychology, an Associate Professor of our Chair of General & Cognitive Psychology), who gave their joint report “Social & Psychological Aspects of Ethnic Identity”).

Over 100 reports of real scientific and hands-on value were given at the Conference. The participants came up with constructive proposals and ideas whose implementation will definitely contribute to further unity of the multiethnic people of Russia.
