Demonstrating Agricultural Innovations

The Ministry of Agriculture & Fishery of Astrakhan Region and the Department of Agribusiness, Technologies, & Veterinary Medicine of Astrakhan State University have held the Forum “Day of Agricultural Innovation at ASU”.

The event was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Astrakhan Region. A number of organizations – legal authorities and agencies whose activities relate to agriculture, agricultural enterprises and farms, educational and research institutions – took part in it.

At the Plenary Session of the applied scientific conference, Mr. Andrey Timofeev, Minister of Agriculture & Fishery of Astrakhan Region, and Dr. Ravil Arykbaev, Dean of the Department of Agribusiness, Technologies, & Veterinary Medicine of ASU, gave their reports. Roundtables concerned innovations in plant cultivation, animal breeding, veterinary, and aquaculture.

The event agenda also included the 2017 Regional Competition of Automatic Milking Operators and the 2017 Regional Competition of Cattle Artificial Pollination Operators.

The exhibition presented breeds of cattle, young animals obtained by means of artificial pollination, new sorts of agricultural crops, and products of agricultural raw materials processing.

The profession orientation program included excursions for children aged 11-15, the governmental support projects, etc.

Among other projects, our Department of Agribusiness, Technologies, & Veterinary Medicine presented its innovative project related to a technology of Clarias gariepinus processing; this fish is bred at Astrakhan Region’s facilities.

A large number of people of Astrakhan visited the exhibition where anyone could try and buy a wide range of agricultural produce.
