Professor of ASU Participates in International Delegation to Germany

Professor Nikolay Grishin from Astrakhan State University has taken part in an international observation mission at the recent parliamentary elections in Germany.

The delegation included specialists in the field of election process; they aimed to assess efficiency and form suggestions related to development prospects of Germany’s electoral system. Their travel was arranged by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), whose goal is to involve the international expert community in discussion of specific features and identify optimization options of the electoral system in Germany.

The delegation participants visited several polling stations on the election day; they met management of the electoral bodies (including Berlin election official Dr. Petra Michaelis-Merzbach) and the Committee for the Scrutiny of Elections of the German Bundestag.

During his visit to Germany, Dr. Grishin also took part in a seminar related to launch of a new international scientific journal about elections.
