Board Member of Union of Translators of Russia Visits ASU

Professor Vadim Sdobnikov has come to Astrakhan to participate in a meeting of the Council of the International Federation of Translators (FIT). Our distinguished guest works as a Full Professor at the Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod; he also published a number of popular textbooks and manuals for students specializing in Linguistics.

The scholar gave a lecture about the communicative functional approach to translation for future translators and faculty of the Department of Foreign Languages and the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting & Translation of ASU.

After the lecture, there was a roundtable for our students to discuss specifics of translators’ work with Prof. Sdobnikov. The guest highly appreciated the young people’s profound interest towards this profession, which is essential to succeed in their future careers.

Let us remark that the meeting of the Council of the International Federation of Translators (FIT) took place last week. The FIT delegation visited Astrakhan State University and met its administration on April 05, 2018.
