Students of ASU Take Part in Opening of Turkmen School

The official opening ceremony took place in the village of Funtovo not far from the city of Astrakhan. Turkmenia was represented by Mr. Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Russian part was represented by Mr. Alexander Zhilkin, Governor of Astrakhan Region.

The school construction was initiated by Turkmenistan in 2016. The global project was executed in the village whose residents of this village are mostly ethnic Turkmens; it was backed by the Government of Astrakhan Region.

Turkmen people residing in Astrakhan Region took part in the opening ceremony, as well as students who came from Turkmenia to get education at Astrakhan’s educational institutions. Turkmen students of ASU were one of the largest groups; they were wearing bright national costumes.

Our University has been educating students from the neighboring countries for many years. Now several hundred students from Turkmenistan are getting education at ASU. Not only they obtain new knowledge; they also participate in social events actively.

At the official ceremony, Mr. Meredov emphasized importance of development of educational and cultural links between Russia and Turkmenistan. In his turn, Mr. Pavel Zenkovich, Deputy Minister of Education & Science of the Russian Federation, remarked that interaction between the two countries in the field of education is an issue of special importance.
