People of ASU and Their Kazakhstani Colleagues Research Maloe Bogdo Hill

In May 2018, researchers of the Department of Geology & Geography of Astrakhan State University and their colleagues from Zhangir khan West Kazakhstan Agrarian Technical University (Uralsk, Kazakhstan) took part in a joint expedition to Western Kazakhstan.

Our Kazakhstani colleagues arranged the expedition. Dr. Ilya Golovachev from our Chair of Wellsite Geology, Hydrogeology, & Geochemistry of Combustible Fossils headed the Russian group.

The expedition aimed to research the natural and historical cultural heritage of the area around the saline dome elevation of Maloe Bogdo Hill. The researchers from the two countries conducted a number of researches of the local geology, soil, landscape, geomorphology, karst, botany, and entomology. A photo survey of the local natural objects was made as well.

According to the expedition participants, the obtained information provides a better comprehension of the historic process of formation and development of the Northern Caspian Region.
