Basketball Battle of Student Teams Takes Place at ASU

A 3*3 basketball competition as part of a unique national project of the Association of Student Basketball has taken place at Astrakhan State University.

This project aims to attract young sportspeople from various regions and areas and form a student street basketball culture. This event is held at ASU for the third time; its Elite section is a debut: 12 male and 6 female teams are taking part in it this year.

The event organizers presented a real show to people of Astrakhan. A true spirit of streetball dominated the game site. Despite the hot weather and strong competitors, matches followed one another non-stop; the sports excitement only stirred up the players. During the tournament, it was obvious how carefully the event was arranged: the bright fan zone helped the supporters enjoy the competitions, while various locations helped the guests have a good time.

According to Farkhad Sultanov, the event co-organizer, the main goal of the competition was to not only attract as many sportspeople as possible, but also make everyone, including the audience, be pleased with the game.

According to Igor Andrianov, a supporter of the Caspian Wolves team of ASU, “we should thank the organizers for such a great atmosphere and organization of this event. Sports are a fashionable trend now, and it’s cool! It’s very good that there are now indifferent people in our city who try to attract many people to sports. The main plus is a most comfortable atmosphere for supporters at this tournament”.

The competition participants remarked that it has been the largest 3*3 basketball tournament in Astrakhan. Besides, the level of the participating teams has risen significantly.

“We’re glad to see new people”, Zuri Maximova, the coach of the Astra team, says, “”The number of players, who play at the amateur and professional levels, increased”.

The teams fought furiously to claim the final stage of the competition. In the male final, there were contestants who had met at the competitions many times. In the end, the Caspian Wolves team of Astrakhan State University has become the absolute winner for the third time.
