Uzbekistan is Interested in ASU Research Projects and Linguistic School

Astrakhan State University welcomed a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan that came to the 3rd Russian-Uzbek Youth Forum. The guests made a tour around the university and talked to Konstantin Markelov, the ASU Acting Rector.

The delegates visited laboratories of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics, Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, talked to young activists and leading teachers of the university. The distinguished guests were accompanied by Denis Afanasyev, Acting Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of Astrakhan Region. Astrakhan State University impressed the Uzbek delegates. They noted the university remarkable atmosphere and teachers’ merits in the fact that students are keen both on studies and on social activities.

At the meeting with Konstantin Markelov, the guests shared their impressions from the tour around the university and thanked for the invitation. The rector focused attention on the fact that ASU trains future professionals in close cooperation with regional enterprises and with regard to the needs of certain sectors.

Tatyana Seliverstova, Vice President of the Russian Union of Youth, suggested that ASU enters into an agreement with the Youth Union of Uzbekistan. The parties also discussed the Russian-Uzbek business incubator being launched next year in ASU.

Eldor Tulyakov, a deputy and a member of the Commission for Youth Issues of the Legislative Chamber in the Uzbekistan Supreme Assembly, said that he sees several vectors for cooperation. He marked out the university scientific potential, well-developed international contacts and comprehensive facilities for training translators and interpreters. The deputy noted a favorable opportunity for teaching translation and interpreting to Uzbek students at ASU. He also stressed a strong demand for skillful teachers of the Russian language in the Republic.
