ASU Prepares Projects for a Modern Farmer

Astrakhan State University took an active part in the Day of Innovative Technologies is Agriculture held at the premises of the agricultural enterprise «Astrakhanskiy». The exhibition-forum was organized by the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Being held in the Kharabalinskiy district, the event gathered representatives of the regional agricultural sector. Farm enterprises, research units, universities and secondary specialized colleges demonstrated their achievements at the exhibition stands. Astrakhan State University presented four innovative platforms that attracted interest both of major manufacturers and of pupils. The university R&D products involve robotics, engineering and IT. the ASU students and employees presented options of soil-free farming using the hydroponics technology, usage of a drone to collect on-field information and other useful projects.

Konstantin Markelov, the ASU Acting Rector, said that the university trains in-demand specialists and implement promising research projects and stressed that universities must be ready for new challenges and set strategic tasks according to regional needs.

These are close ties with Astrakhan industrial companies that allow ASU to graduate competitive young specialists. At the meeting in the Kharabalinskiy district, ASU concluded another agreement that offers manifold opportunities for students of almost all its majors. Now ASU has a new partner — the agricultural enterprise «Astrakhanskiy».
