ASU Teachers Participate in a Seed Production Seminar
Teachers of the Department of Agricultural Technologies, Engineering & Agribusiness of Astrakhan State University learnt useful facts about peculiarities of cultivation and qualitative parameters of new hybrid plants.
The seminar was organized by the company “Agro-Department” together with representatives of Nunhems, a Dutch company which is a part of the Bayer Group. Nowadays, the company offers high-quality seeds of 2,500 hybrids and varieties of 28 species of vegetables and melons and also provides expert consultations to farmers and agricultural industries.
At the seminar, representatives of the foreign partner, responsible for seed production and registration of varieties and hybrids in Southern Russia (Astrakhan region, Volgograd region, Krasnodarskiy Krai, North Caucasus), told the guests about the range of Nunhems products, e.g. promising hybrids of tomatoes, cucumbers and sweet pepper. They particularly dwelled on watermelons and presented modern portion-size and seedless hybrids to the audience.
Along with the teachers of the ASU Department of Agricultural Technologies, Engineering & Agribusiness, the seminar was attended by representatives of the scientific & experimental farm “Nachalo”.
