ASU Proposes New Forms of Cooperation with an Uzbek University

Astrakhan State University welcomed a delegation of Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, headed by its Rector Akhmet Reymov.

The parties held a fruitful discussion on the areas of possible academic cooperation. The representatives of Karakalpak State University are mainly interested in double-degree diplomas in History and the Russian Language & Literature. At the meeting, the parties discussed some technical details, in particular harmonization of the curricula, re-certification, drafting an agreement on a 2-year programme for Uzbek students’ studies at ASU and at their home university.

Besides, our foreign guests proposed to extend the forms of cooperation and conduct joint research activities: to develop projects, participate in international conferences, submit papers to scientific journals. For example, the environmental issue, being a top-priority area for the Uzbek university, is one of the areas of common interest. Konstantin Markelov fully supported initiatives of the Uzbek colleagues and stressed the importance of information exchange for joint research achievements.

Besides, the guests were invited to consider possibilities of academic mobility programmes, winter and summer language schools, dialectical practice for students, advanced training courses for teachers and the field ecologist school. They also got interested in distance learning through videoconference system.
