ASU Will Organize Scientific & Field Tours of Astrakhan Biomes
On May 13-18, 2019 the Department of Botany, Biology of Ecosystems & Land Resources of the ASU Biological Faculty is holding the international conference "Floodplain and Delta Biocoenoses of the Holarctic: Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution".
The event will see discussions on floral diversity and modern state of the flora of floodplain and delta ecosystems; floodplain and delta islands as speciation centres; anatomical, morphological, biochemical and ethological adaptations of the biota of ecotone habitats; issues and methods of studying the state of soils of the Holarctic deltas and floodplains.
The conference will involve more than 50 researchers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Tobolsk, Tyumen, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Barnaul, Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Krasnodar, Elista, Yaroslavl, Kirov, as well as scientists from Belarus, Italy and the UK.
The event guests will be invited to scientific and field tours of biomes of the Astrakhan region’s left bank along the following routes: Bogdo-Baskunchak salt-dome region, Berli sands and Volga-Akhtuba floodplain.
