ASU Historians-To-Be Joined Top 10 at a Specialized Competition
Vyacheslav Biryukov, Maksim Gutovsky and Kseniya Levchenko, 3rd-year students of the Historical Faculty, participated in the all-Russia student competition in foreign regional studies which took place in the Republic of Mordovia.
The student team was guided by Vladimir Kulakov, the Head of the Department of Foreign History & Regional Studies of Astrakhan State University.
It is the 20th competition in foreign regional studies, held at the Ogarev Mordovia State University. Each year, the event brings together a large number of participants from all over Russia.
Two days of the competition included a plenty of interesting tasks which checked the entrants’ knowledge in history and international relations, their background knowledge and awareness.
The participants said the competition was quite challenging but interesting because their rivals were the strongest students from all over Russia that already had experience of participation in this contest. Nevertheless, the Astrakhan team, though being there for the first time, managed to prove themselves — they nearly reached the awards stand and ranked 4th, 5th and 7th. Anyway, the ASU students gained invaluable experience which will help them try their hand once again and win medals next year.
