Famous Names of Great Britain Competition for Schoolchildren at ASU

On November 15, the ASU Department of Continuing Education will hold the 3rd interregional competition in English for comprehensive schoolchildren and students of any educational institution.

The competition is held within the framework of the scientific and educational project “Open Education” which allows to organize the interaction between the university, a ‘talent factory’ for educational institutions of the region, and the educational community. The event aims at facilitating advanced training of English teachers, enhancing efficiency of extra-curricular activities in English and developing an interest in English among schoolchildren and students.

The project was launched in 2018 under the name “Red Bus” and was mostly focused on country-related knowledge. The test tasks of the 2nd interregional competition “Learning English” covered a wider range of issues and allowed to assess the entrants’ knowledge in the English grammar, stylistics and vocabulary. The 3rd competition “Famous Names of Great Britain” will provide its participants with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of the country of the studied language and check their knowledge of the British art, cinema, theatre, economy and so on.

The linguistic competition winners will receive certificates, and their teachers will be awarded with certificates of appreciation from Astrakhan State University.
