European Champions Choose Astrakhan State University as Their Alma Mater

July 29 saw the preliminary stage of enrollment at ASU. The ‘dream’ list included the names of two European champions — Said Ibragimov and Svetlana Titova. They decided to obtain a higher education with the major “Physical Training” at our university. The guys shared their plans for the future and told us about their victories.

In his yearly years, the Astrakhan canoeist and Russian champion Said Ibragimov won a gold medal for the national team at the European Championship. Said has been going in for rowing for about nine years and has a lot of sports awards. Now our student-to-be is actively preparing for the Junior Championship (under-19). Then he is going to the Russian Championship and All-Russian competitions in rowing and canoeing (male and female juniors under 24).

The athletic career of Svetlana Titova started when she was 11. Now she has several prestigious titles: Master of Sports, a member of the national rowing team, a silver medal winner of the Russian Junior Championship (under-17), a bronze medal winner of the Russian Championship (under-19), a five-time champion of the All-Russian competitions (under-19), the European Champion.

The prospective students said they’d chosen Astrakhan State University for a good reason. According to the champions, the advantages of studies at ASU are high-quality education, comprehensive development and a wide range of study programmes.
