ASU Student Improved Solar Panels during His Traineeship
In July 2019, Vladimir Ilyichev, a MA student of the major “Electronics & Nanoelectronics”, undertook a traineeship at the Research and Development Centre for Thin-Film Technologies in Energetics, St. Petersburg.
The R&D Centre was founded by Hevel Solar company, the first solar module producer in Russia which produces heterostructure solar modules.
Since December 2010, the R&D Centre for Thin-Film Technologies in Energetics has been involved into a project of creation and maintenance of the Skolkovo innovative centre.
Astrakhan State University has cooperated with the R&D Centre for several years: in January 2013, ASU and the Research and Development Centre for Thin-Film Technologies in Energetics signed an agreement on cooperation in the sphere of renewable solar energy through creation of a system of solar insolation monitoring in Astrakhan region, joint participation in practical research and training of highly skilled professionals in the sphere of renewable sources of energy.
Within the framework of this agreement, on May 8, 2013, a system of long-term monitoring of photovoltaic modules performance was installed on the roof of one of the university buildings.
The test system work is directly controlled by staff members of the Research & Educational Centre “Alternative Energy”.
The ASU student’s traineeship at the Research and Development Centre for Thin-Film Technologies in Energetics in St. Petersburg was very productive and yielded significant results. Together with the R&D Centre experts, Vladimir Ilyichev studied degradation of solar modules of the photovoltaic test system and conducted an in-depth analysis of their performance and properties.
