“Studentship Gives the Best Start in Life”: ASU Freshers Receive Words of Farewell

On Knowledge Day, the Cultural Centre stage featured Rector Konstantin Markelov, Astrakhan Governor a.i. Igor Babushkin and other distinguished guests.

Pavel Zenkovsky, the Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, addressed the audience on behalf of the federal educational authorities. He congratulated the freshers and senior students with the beginning of another academic year.

The Fresher’s Day at ASU was also attended by Astrakhan Governor a.i. Igor Babushkin. Before the ceremonial part of the event, he visited the interactive exhibition, paying special attention to the robotic developments of the university, in particular to the underwater robot and mobile chair for people with special needs.

As it was found out, this Knowledge Day is an anniversary date for Konstantin Markelov. “40 years ago I entered the university for the first time as a fresher of the Faculty of Physics & Mathematics. And today I’m for the first time on this stage as Rector of Astrakhan State University,” — said the Rector.

The ASU Knowledge Day Ceremony was also attended by regional Minister of Education Vitaly Gutman, Astrakhan Administration Head Radik Kharisov, several guests from the Consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other distinguished guests, including representatives of some industrial partners of the university.

All the speakers unanimously wished the students academic progress, as it’s what the holiday is principally dedicated to. However, there was another cross-cutting issue mentioned by everyone — they all reminded that studentship is the best period in life, so the students must remember that, have fun and give full play to all the given opportunities.
