ASU Students Will Master a New Intellectual Sport

At the 5th Eastern Economic Forum, Rector of Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov met with Gleb Kataev, the Chairman of the Commission for Work with Regions of the Go Federation of Russia, to discuss some issues of cooperation with the organization.

The parties agreed to register the Astrakhan Go Federation at Astrakhan State University. Together with the organization, the university will take part in drafting a programme on a training for trainers in this sport. Once the preliminary stages are passed, they will create a team of students that learn Asian languages.

Go is a logical board game with a deep strategic content, originated from the Ancient China, by various estimates, from two to five thousand years ago.

The Go Federation of Russia regulates activities of regional federations of this intellectual sport and hold Russian Go Championships.
