Khlebnikov Conference at Astrakhan State University

Leading specialists in Khlebnikov’s creative works of Russia and abroad, as well as relatives of the famous poet got together in Astrakhan to participate in the traditional scientific event which is held for the thirteenth time.

This year, the International Khlebnikov Conference is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of ASU Professor Gennady Glinin, its ideological inspiration and irreplaceable organizer.

Welcoming the conference guests on behalf of the university administration, Elina Polyanskaya, the First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, recalled the history of holding the Khlebnikov Conferences in Astrakhan to the audience.

This year, ASU is welcoming, among other distinguished guests, Henryk Baran, Professor of the Department of Languages, Literature & Culture of the State University of New York, Gabriella Imposti, an Italian Slavicist and Professor of the Russian Literature at the University of Bologna, and Nikolay Pertsov, a leading researcher of the Unit of Corpus Linguistics & Linguistic Poetics of the V.V. Vinogradov Russian Language Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Natalia Drozdova, Velimir’s grand-niece, shared some family memories of the poet with the participants of the plenary session.

Scientific discussions were continued within the sections “Khlebnikov’s Artistic World”, “Khlebnikov’s Works and World Artistic Culture”, “Adoption of Khlebnikov’s Poetry and Prose”. The programme of the conference second day includes a series of events in the poet’s house museum.
