Ambassador of France Meets with Students of Astrakhan State University

During her meeting with the students, who mostly undertake non-linguistic programmes, Sylvie Bermann stressed she was impressed with the level of the students’ proficiency in French. According to the guest, she is especially glad to learn more about the Astrakhan youth.

“I’m happy to see this active interaction between our cultures, — says the Ambassador of France to Russia, — I hope that in future we’ll keep strengthening the relations with your region. Alexandre Dumas père wrote From Paris To Astrakhan, and I’m sure that one of you will write another work and title it From Astrakhan To Paris.”

This spring, Tatiana Prokopchuk, a 4th-year student of the ASU Biological Faculty, took part in the regional stage of the all-Russian dictation in French and ranked first. Then she was selected by the French Embassy in Moscow and entered the top-20 of the best in Russia. The second stage of the competition took place in Moscow, and upon its results 10 winners, including Tatiana, went to Montpellier, the south of France, to undertake a traineeship.

Tatiana Prokopchuk expressed her gratitude to the Embassy of France for the organization of the competition and for that unique opportunity to visit France.
