Da Vinci Exhibition at Astrakhan State University

On November 8, the event hall of Astrakhan State University hosted an event, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the great artist’s death. 14 canvases with reproductions of the Renaissance genius’ works were brought to Astrakhan by Luigina Peddi, the Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow.

Before the exhibition opening ceremony, the guest had met with the Astrakhan State University Rector — the parties discussed some prospects of further cooperation.

The Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow thanked for the invitation and opportunity to address the students of Astrakhan State University. Luigina Peddi reminded of the most striking moments of the life and work of Leonardo da Vinci, his discoveries and achievements, above all as a scientist and researcher.

The official opening ceremony was followed by the screening of the film “Leonardo da Vinci. Unknown Worlds” in Italian with Russian subtitles.

The event was attended by students of different faculties who learn the Italian language and culture — future translators and interpreters, cultural studies scholars, lawyers, historians and so on, as well as the Italian students that are undertaking an exchange programme at Astrakhan State University. After the event, they could talk to the guest and get answers to their questions of interest.
