Astrakhan State University Elects New Representative of African States’ Community

On December 14, ASU hosted a meeting of the Astrakhan Branch of the Association of International Students, where Fernandu Sambu Jose, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Business & Economy and a citizen of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, was elected representative of interests of students from African countries.

The voting involved 44 international students and 49 attendees of the preparatory courses who come from African countries and study at Astrakhan State University.

The Astrakhan Branch of the Association of International Students renders assistance in:

• foreign students’ adaptation and involvement into sociocultural activities;
• creation of favourable conditions for ASU international students’ socialization;
• exchange of cultural experience between international and Russian students;
• acquainting international students with culture, history and uniqueness of the Russian peoples;
• strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between representatives of different states and nationalities.

The Association organizes work of representatives of ethnic communities that facilitate the involvement of students into socially-important activities and stimulation of their ethno-confessional proactiveness.
