Hundreds of Astrakhan Senior Schoolchildren Attend ASU Welcome Day

On January 12, Astrakhan State University held the Welcome Day. Our prospective students learnt about ASU programmes and the admission procedure.

The guests —schoolchildren, graduates of colleges and their parents — were welcomed by ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov. He told the audience about the advantages and capacities of the university.

“ASU is the leading university of the region. We offer the widest range of majors for school leavers. It’s the only university of Astrakhan that was established by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,” noted Konstantin Markelov.

ASU students can undertake traineeships abroad, in federal agencies and largest companies of the region and country.

Konstantin Markelov advised the prospective students on benefiting from all the opportunities given for getting a state-funded place: to take part in competitions, receive extra scores and become employer-sponsored, signing a special contract. The Rector also stressed that they mustn’t be afraid of commercial studies, saying that ASU students can join a special programme of loans, as the respective agreement had been signed between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Sberbank.

The event also featured Lyudmila Tovarnichenko, the Head of the Directorate of Pre-University Training & Students Admission and the Executive Secretary of the ASU Admission Campaign. She told the audience about the procedure and deadlines for the document submission and the minimum act scores.

After the official part and the concert, prepared by the ASU Cultural Centre, the guests talked to faculty deans.
