Mechanisms of Caspian Centre’s Work Are Discussed at ASU
Astrakhan State University held the opening ceremony of the strategic session “Caspian Scientific & Educational Centre — Growth Point of Economic Potential of Southern Russia”.
Today, ASU has brought together more than 200 representatives of public authorities, businesses, financial institutes, social, scientific and educational organizations of Astrakhan region, the Republic of Dagestan and Republic of Kalmykiya. The event is also featuring delegations from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Samara National Research University named after S.P. Korolev.
In his speech, Rector of Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov noted that activities of the Caspian Centre would be aimed at coordination of scientific, applied and engineering work, oriented on further development of the region. The region will be responsible for integration and cooperation of partner participants with educational and scientific organizations, real-sector organizations, business structures, all the participants that are interested in development and comprehensive security of the Caspian region and improvement of life quality in the Caspian states.
Results of the work on the Centre project in 2019 were summed up in December at another meeting of the Astrakhan Rectors’ Council. At the same meeting, a decision was made to hold a strategic session on specifying the concept of the centre in January 2020 with involvement of representatives of Astrakhan HEIs, industrial partners and members of the regional government.
During the strategic session, it is planned to discuss methodological approaches to formation of world-class scientific and educational centres, a mechanism of interaction of all the participants of the Caspian Centre, prospects of interaction of the participants within scientific and educational centres and many other issues.
