ASU Keeps Celebrating Tatiana Day with Student Ball
The Cultural Centre of Astrakhan State University has held a gala on this occasion for the second time. Students, teachers and guests of the university enjoyed a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, took part in traditional entertainments and danced, of course.
Rector of Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov congratulated the audience on Tatiana Day and the Russian Students Day:
“I’m very glad to see that you preserve this important and very beautiful tradition — to celebrate this occasion with a dancing party. I want you to retain this feeling of closeness to the sublime, art, history and old university customs through your life.”
The concert programme included Viennese Waltz, Spanish Waltz, Polka-troika, marches and cotillion. Another unusual item was ball gallop — an English dance, performed to a traditional Scottish music.
For the first time our ball was attended by students of other universities — Astrakhan State University of Architecture & Construction, Astrakhan State Medical University, Astrakhan State Technical University and International Law Institute.
